The Core Philosophy: Reciprocal Excellence

This protocol is designed to protect the academic integrity and mental energy of all participants. We operate on the principle of Reciprocal Growth: a partnership is only functional when both parties contribute equal effort.

Academic time is a non-social zone. We are here to master Mathematics, Physics, Design, and so many challenging subjects, not to provide emotional regulation or academic "bailouts."

When one person consistently consumes more energy than they provide, the partnership becomes a parasitic drain rather than a collaborative force.

Basic Time Flow for Study: The 60-Minute "Deep Work" Cycle

Each hour is a closed loop governed by a strict temporal structure. Any deviation from the schedule, such as unscheduled talking or distractions, results in the immediate termination of the joint session to prevent further "sunk cost" of time.

Phase Duration Activity Mandatory Rules
Phase 1: Deep Focus 40 Mins Individual Task Execution Zero Interruption. No phones, no casual browsing, no gaming, and no recreational doodling. Participants must maintain a professional posture; sitting back-to-back or diagonally is required to eliminate visual triggers and the urge to initiate eye contact.
Phase 2: Logic Sync 10 Mins Targeted Q&A / Review This is the only window for verbal interaction. Discussions must be limited to specific roadblocks encountered in Phase 1. If a participant has not actively attempted a problem with written evidence, they are barred from asking about it.
Phase 3: Tactical Reset 10 Mins Physical Break Stand up, hydrate, or leave the room. This phase is designed to clear the "cache" of the brain. Do not start new social topics; doing so creates "attention residue" that bleeds into the next focus cycle, destroying momentum.

What if you have words to say to your partner?

If a participant wants to speak while a cycle is active, the following triage system must be strictly observed. Any verbal breach outside the designated timeframe results in immediate termination of the session.

Situation A: Non-important (e.g. Murmurs, Gossip, or Fun Topics)
  • Classification: Social Leak

Action: Total Silence. These topics are strictly prohibited during Phase 1 and Phase 2. They may only be discussed shortly during Phase 3: Tactical Reset, provided they do not delay the start of the next cycle. You could write down the topics on your paper and discuss them as much as you like after the study session.

Situation B: Important (e.g. Related Academic Problems)
  • Classification: Technical Roadblock

Action: Defer to Phase 2: Logic Sync. Participants must write down the problem and attempt an alternative task. Verbalization is only permitted during the Logic Sync window.

Situation C: Very Important! (e.g. Fatal Error by Partner)
  • Classification: Critical Course Correction

Action: Non-Verbal Alert. If you discover a "fatal error" committed by your partner, you may use a Red Signal (e.g. putting a sticky note on the partner’s desk) to prevent the "sunk cost" of pursuing a mathematically or logically flawed path for 40 minutes. The partner must then silently acknowledge the error and adjust, or wait until Phase 2 for a verbal explanation. No talking is permitted, even in this scenario.

Fin.: The Code of Conduct & Neurodivergency Clause

Punctuality & The "15-Minute" Rule

Time is the most finite resource we possess. If a member is more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, the session is forfeited for them. We do not "catch up," recap, or repeat explanations. If you think that's OK, you're not aiming for high-level academic performance.

Regarding ADHD, Autism, and OCD

Recognizing that neurodivergent traits present genuine hurdles in executive function and sensory regulation. However, in this high-stakes environment:

  • Diagnosis is an explanation for difficulty, not a "Yellow Card". It explains why a task is hard, but it does not excuse the disruption of another person’s focus or the failure to respect established boundaries.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Having a diagnosis does not grant the right to bypass the "Rule of Three" regarding broken commitments or to ignore urgent messages.
  • Symptom Management: If the symptoms become unmanageable, the individual must step away to handle it privately. The shared study environment must remain a "Low-Entropy" zone - a space of order, not chaos.
Separation of Roles: The Firewall

We may be friends during dinners, social drives, and parties. But in academic and study contexts, such as the library, we are competitors and colleagues. If the emotional weight of the "friend" role interferes with the efficiency of the "academic" role, the academic partnership should be dissolved immediately to prevent the friendship from being destroyed by resentment.

Execution Agreement

To avoid the burnout of one partner and the stagnation of the other, we adhere to these rules without exception.

"Self-rescue first; Collaboration second; Friendship always—but elsewhere."

Once you have agreed to the Study Group Protocol, please reply in your study group chat with the following message:

"I have read and I accept the Study Group Protocol. I understand that any violation of the Focus Cycles or Communication Rules will result in the immediate termination of the session. [The Must-do: Insert one your personal commitment or specific commentary here]."
